Warm Weekend
We had a blissful weekend. That is the only way to describe it. The high's were in the upper 70's. Unheard of here! We set record highs all week, the locals are confused and muttering things like, "It is so hot!", which makes me giggle. We set out after coffee on the porch to find waterfalls, and to explore our favorite beach.
After last weekends sledding we didn't know what to expect of the ice fields at the lake but we found it mostly melted.
We found out quite by accident that the ice was so melted that you could collapse it with one good jump. So jump we did.
The rock hunting was very good and we all came home with our pockets full of "keepers".
Some of us were not afraid of the cold water.
Especially since his boots got soaked when he waded in the lake.
We hit our favorite lunch spot and went on in search of waterfalls. The melt off has been so rapid here that they are literally everywhere. I guess that's what happens when you go from four feet of snow to nothing in a period of one week.
Our quest was completed.
I still can't believe this is March!

Weekending
It feels like Spring is Here. The snow has been melting rapidly. It has been in the 60's and we decided to head out to the lake and see if we could find any agates to collect. Once we got there were found there was still ice as far as you could see.
Only little patches of rocks or beach poked through and my little rock hound stopped at everyone in search of the perfect rock.
So we pulled out the sleds that were in the back of the car for those "just in case we find a hill" emergencies. We found a good one, and all of us had so much fun.

My Birthday.
Last week we celebrated my birthday. I learned a few years ago that the best way to have a great birthday is to not have any expectations. None. Expect nothing. Then you are totally surprised when someone says, "Happy Birthday!", or if you receive a gift it is so exciting because you didn't expect anything.
My day did not start off well. I woke up with a cold. A sit your bum on the couch all day cold, but I have the sweetest children. They woke up and greeted me with birthday wishes, snuggled up on the couch with me, and made me hot tea. That made my day all the more special even though I didn't feel well. I got some of the most beautiful hand drawn birthday cards, and kept getting tucked in and handed items I needed throughout the day.
I did receive some beautiful gifts. My father bought me the most perfect Dutch Oven. I have never had one and had dreamed of having one some day. I have such good ideas to fill it with stews, roasted foods, and even bread. I've always wanted to try the bread you bake in the dutch oven.
My love and the kids bought me the most lovely measuring scoops and some glass jars to store some of our kitchen staples in. I love them also. I'm pretty easy to please. I love them so much I can not figure out exactly what I want to put in them. I have bags of oats that need stored properly, flour, and sugar.
I started knitting a new hat on my birthday for myself. It really was the perfect way to spend the day.
